Solé Graells, a distributor of high quality products for pastry, catering and hospitality industries, organized yesterday at its facility in Barcelona a cookery course with Matcha green tea targeted towards pastry professionals and confectioners.

The Matcha House Europe, a Japanese green tea supplier to Europe, who opened the session with a presentation of the product. Among the attendants of the event, there were front-line confectioners such as Carles Mampel, Christian Escribà, Joan Baixas and Miquel Vives.

Although the use of green tea Matcha in Europe is increasing, many people are still unaware of this excellent ingredient. Matcha is a very versatile product that can be consumed as a tea or be integrated as an ingredient in any kinds of pastry. Matcha tea contains a high amount of antioxidants and vitamins. The health benefits of green tea Matcha raised significant interest in the course.

The pastries created by Hans Ovando (M.M.A.C.E. 2008) and performed by Samuel de la Torre (photo) were truly amazing and extremely delicious: Matcha mousse with peach flavour, Chocolate savarin with Matcha cream, Matcha macaron, mashmellow of ginger and Matcha, Matcha ice cream, toffee of liquorice with Matcha, tablets of Matcha tea and pineapple.
