This morning, we enjoyed our Nodate 野点 time in Labyrinth Garden in Barcelona.
What is Nodate? Nodate is a Japanese word and means Matcha picnic. In Japanese, "No (野)" means field or outdoor and "Date (点)" means make Matcha tea. Japanese tea ceremony can also be done outside in a picnic style and it is called Nodate. Actually there are two types of Nodate. One is Nodate that follows the authentic tea ceremony style and another one is cadual Nodate where you simply enjoy Matcha outdoors at your style. We enjoyed the latter one today.
The Labyrinth Garden is the most ancient and elegant garden in Barcelona. It is located in Horta area, the northwest part of the center of Barcelona - it is just 5 minutes by car from the The Matcha House Barcelona office. It is very quiet and beautiful place.
The labyrinth garden in the park is made with tall hedges made from cypress trees and this labyrinth was used for the famous French film "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer". Today, unfortunately, this labyrinth was on the maintenance and we could not enter, but we were happy enough to walk this beautiful big park, full of nature and enjoy a cup of Matcha.
The best place for us to do Nodate was in front of the moss rock fountain. The Nodate listening to the sound of water was awesome!
